The Koa Foundation Scholarship
The KOA Foundation Liberty HS Alumni Scholarship is dedicated to empowering graduates of Liberty High School to pursue their dreams of higher education. This scholarship aims to support students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to their community. Scholarship Requirements
1. Eligibility Requirements
Liberty High School Alumni: Applicant must be a graduate of Liberty High School.
Academic Achievement:
Unweighted High School GPA: Applicant must have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher.
College Enrollment: Applicant must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited college or university in Nevada.
U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident to qualify for this scholarship.
2. Application Requirements
Completed Application Form: Applicants must submit a fully completed scholarship application form, including personal information, academic details, and a personal statement.
Personal Statement: A 500-700 word personal statement addressing academic and career goals, the impact of Liberty High School on personal development, and community involvement.
Official High School Transcript: Must include verification of GPA and graduation from Liberty High School.
Proof of Enrollment or Acceptance: Proof of enrollment or an acceptance letter from a Nevada college or university.
3. Selection Process
Review Committee: Applications will be reviewed by an independent scholarship selection committee. Committee members will have no familial or financial relationships with applicants to avoid any conflicts of interest.
Evaluation Criteria: Applications will be evaluated based on academic performance, leadership qualities, community involvement, and the content of the personal statement.
4. Scholarship Disbursement
Fund Disbursement: Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the recipient to be used for educational expenses, including tuition, books, housing, and supplies.
Proof of Use: Recipients will be required to provide receipts or other documentation to verify that the funds were used for educational purposes. Misuse of funds may result in termination of the scholarship and require repayment.
5. Compliance and Legal Requirements
Non-Discrimination Policy: The scholarship is open to all eligible applicants regardless of race, gender, religion, or background, in compliance with federal and state anti-discrimination laws.
Tax-Exempt Status: The KOA Foundation is a recognized tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the scholarship fund are tax-deductible, and no goods or services are provided in exchange for contributions.
Recordkeeping: All records, including application forms, selection committee notes, and disbursement receipts, will be maintained for a minimum of seven (7) years in compliance with IRS requirements.
6. Renewal Requirements (if applicable)
Academic Performance: If the scholarship is renewable, recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and provide proof of full-time enrollment each academic year to remain eligible for continued funding.
